Wajir Governor H.E Amb. Mohamed Abdi Mohamud flagged-off of seven (7) water bowsers, twenty (20) Gensets and a tractor-trailer, this is under the Water and Sanitation Development Project (WSDP), a partnership between the County Government of Wajir and the World Bank.

The delivery of these water browsers, gensets and other equipment will
ensure people in the water trucking centers have access to clean and affordable water as well as ensure to improve fecal sludge
management.
Wajir County is presently in a dire water supply situation attributable to inadequacy in quantity and hardness. The present daily yield is about 1000M3 against a demand of 4,400m3. With a current population of 110,729 which is expected to grow to
132,787 by 2022 and without immediate intervention, the already dire water situation in Wajir will grow into a crisis. At present, Wajir has no functional water borne sewerage system and lacks sustainable sanitation systems. The residents currently rely on on-plot sanitation methods such as bucket toilets, ecosan toilets and septic tanks. Open defecation is prevalent in Wajir. Wajir lacks a proper sludge collection, conveyance, treatment and disposal facility.
WAJWASCO has identified the immediate works and goods that are required to achieve quick wins intended to improve water service provision within Wajir town. The immediate works aim at increasing water production substantially from the existing water sources and add new water sources. The immediate works will pipe water from drilled boreholes at Lanbib and Leheley, a
process we intend to start as soon as the safeguard documents are ready. This will include a 9.5km pipeline from Lanbib to Wajir Water Minor; 11.5km pipeline from Leheley to Wajir Water Minor and 13km water reticulation system within Wajir town.
